When you use our Grate Heat
Exchanger in an open fireplace, you will realize a saving on
your heating costs. With one of these you can extract a larger
percentage of the heat wasted and going up your chimney.
Our all steel design uses several
perfectly sized heavy duty 15 gage 1" tubes for maximum heat
exchanger surface area, superior airflow volume, and maximum
combustion area volume. These C shaped tubes are welded along a
manifold that is filled with cool home air. The tubes then heat
the air along the bottom, back and top. Hot air is then blown
back into the room with velocity. This adds conduction from the
hot coal coals and convection from the flame, heating to the
radiant heat of a fireplace. Recovering otherwise lost energy or
BTU from the embers and flame of your fire. The AC fans we use
plug into a standard wall outlet and are ball bearing (DC
optional for solar panel, wind, photo voltaic cell off grid or
grid tie applications), they are quiet running at a measured 50
db or less decibels, and deliver 100 CFM each. Other squirrel
cage blown units can sound like a jet engine, raising the volume
of the TV or voices in conversation. With the option of a
variable speed fan control when mood is more important than heat
output you can reduce the background hum of our heat exchangers
in operation for the perfect ambiance. Customers have observed
how the warmth generated by these heat exchangers can circulate
to the adjoining rooms. A customer sent us many thanks when our
grate prevented the freezing of his pipes in -20 weather when
his natural gas furnace broke and the part was over a week away.
This serves to increase the comfort of your entire home,
conserve the amount of wood you burn, and nearly eliminate the
need for other expensive methods of climate control such as
Electric heaters, heat pumps, corn or pellet stove, and central
air oil or gas furnaces. To use our heat exchanger at high or
low output does not require you to slice your firewood into 6"
wafers, and with or without the removable ash tray your fire
gets plenty of airflow for complete and clean combustion, just
like any camp fire. Have you ever noticed how the ash in the
bottom of a camp fire keeps your coals from catching a cold? Or
how those coals cozy in their blanket of ash are still
generating heat by morning and can be stirred to the top of the
ash and used to ignite fresh kindling?
We stock 5 sizes designed to fit
completely within their square measurements: 12” wide, 14” wide,
16” wide, 20” wide, and 24” wide. Rectangular units can be
readily assembled from our stock of 14" deep & tall, 16” deep &
tall, 20" deep & tall, or 24" deep & tall tubes to your specific
width. Our double row heat exchangers are staggered providing
maximum heat exchanger surface area without obstructing the
escape of rising smoke. Please allow for longer production times
to build arched and custom sizes other than stock, "to your
specifications" which can be built to fit within the firebox
tolerances of your fireplace and complement its hearth and
facade. Email pictures and thorough measurements for quote.
